In a surprising move last night Microsoft bought Skype for a cool $8.5 billion in cash. The deal is the largest in Microsoft history.
The move is very much a surprise considering the recent suitors were Facebook and Google. However it seems Microsoft was willing to spend a lot more - Google was rumored to be offering only $2 billion.
